Zwingli jokes and Franky Schaeffer smokes
My friend/nemesis and all-around entertaining blogger Jim West has just edited and translated The Humor of Huldrych Zwingli: The Lighter Side of the Protestant Reformation. You can read his blurb here: OK People- It’s Time To Do It.
For opposing viewpoints on the Franky Schaeffer kerfuffle read:
Mr. Dawn Treader: Os Guiness Responds To Franky Schaeffer
Michael Spencer: Humiliation, Humanity and the Fourth Commandment: Can We Tell The Truth About Those Whose Sin Affects Us?
Although I have no great affection for Franky’s writing, I think Michael’s argument has a lot of merit. Maybe one of my kids will write a good rousing tell-all biography of their dysfunctional parents some day. It’s always good to topple idols off their pedestals.

It is my opinion that Franky Schaeffer should quite writing (i.e., whining), get over himself, and make a few thousand prostrations, being mindful all the while of St Matthew 12:36.
I would love to buy Jim’s book, love that I am of all things related to the Reformation; I do not have, however, $90 to spare at the moment. Perhaps I’ll have to wait until I start making big bucks as mission priest. Nah, scratch that; as scholar/teacher. Er, wait. Well… maybe I’ll never be able to get it.
Actually it’s not ‘just’ – it’s been out for almost half a year. I’m just not the boastful sort and not having thought of it in a while I was reminded of it when I posted earlier today on Zwingli and Froschauer. Just so you know.
